POLICY ADMIN. SYSTEM- OPERATIONS TECHNICIANIT/Operations Manager - Applications Software experienceSummary: The PAS - Operations Technician performs Application monitoring of core Insurance system (Policy Decisions), vendor source code installations and testing, technical support and maintenance for infrastructure and COTS applications. Provides system user support to ensure timely processing of policy and premium transactions by correcting data errors or providing instructions to end users to correct their data errors. Proactively works on operational measurement and tuning and resolves the majority of escalated incidents. The role ensures quality, efficiency and security in production.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Candidate will be responsible for supporting Underwriting and Policy Administration operations in a P&C Insurance company. (Other duties may be assigned as needed)- Primary responsibility is to understand the use and operation of the Policy Administration System, from a technical standpoint.- Provide technical support, troubleshooting and resolution to Policy Administration application issues.- Prioritize and respond to business user's questions and requests in a timely and appropriate manner.- Diagnose and resolve complex system problems (using dumps, traces or other diagnostics aids).- Develop scripts to execute commonly used processes, such as data correction.- Perform procedures necessary for recovery of system or data from backups.- Recommend and change system parameters, or configuration variables, to improve overall system performance.- Write instructions to the users for making corrections to Policy Administration Systems (Policy Decisions and WINS).- Configure and support all system components of Policy Decisions platform (Sharepoint, ActivePDF, Load Balancers, Web Servers and Installer Package).- Deliver projects on-schedule, on-scope and within budget.- Prioritize and respond to business user's questions and requests in a timely and appropriate manner.- Create and maintain documentation, including: business requirements, functional designs, technical designs, implementation plans, and user guides.Job Function breakdown: Technical - Code Administration & Infrastructure Maintenance ~70%Analytical - User Support & Policy Transaction Problem Resolution ~30%Supervisory Responsibilities This job initially has no supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and abilities required for an individual to perform this job successfully.- Hands-on experience in supporting Policy Administration Systems.- Ability to debug Policy Admin System problems using dumps, traces or other diagnostics aids.- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and technologies for debugging, setup, and administration.- Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server and familiar with SharePoint.- Strong knowledge of SQL.- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer focus skills.- Enjoy working in a fast paced, small team environment.- Attention to detail & ability to manage work to tight deadlines- Strong oral and written communication skills. Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or related field of study from four-year College or University is preferred.- Associate's Degree in Information Technology - is acceptable.- Insurance industry experinece required with (Commercial Property & Casualty) experience - preferredOther Skills and Abilities The position requires working occasional evenings and weekends for installing, maintaining, or monitoring applications.
