Water/Wastewater Process Design Engineer

  • Serve as the primary technical engineering lead on water and wastewater treatment/process design projects
  • Develop analysis, plans and specifications - Independently formulate conclusions based on own or subordinates' research or data collection. Assess risk associated with variables input in design, and provide cogent reasoning to complex or conflicting data from different sources. Provide advice and assistance in area of specialty to other disciplines when necessary. Provide technical briefings to clients and senior corporate staff.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control - Provide final review of all project elements during reporting phase. Responsible for completeness and accuracy of field, laboratory and technical analysis and documentation of any assigned project. Arrange for independent technical review when required. Approve proposals, designs, reports, permits, specifications, and work scopes prior to submitting to clients and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Mentoring – Lead teams with varying responsibilities and tasks. Provide counsel, advice and in house training to individual staff. Identify training needs.
  • Project Planning - Decide the scope and extent of engineering and site investigation needed for accomplishing the clients’ objectives, choose the scientific approaches, plan and organize facilities and programs, and interpret results.
  • Assist in preparing proposal or oversee proposal development for specific tasks, may get assistance from others in preparing portions of proposal. Develop scope of work consistent with project objectives. Have appropriately experienced staff review the work scope, verifying that the scope is consistent with project complexity and risk. Review proposal with client.
  • Review contract, during negotiations, to determine if proposed contract commitments can be achieved within proposal scope and budget. Communicate with client if proposed scope and budget are not adequate for contract commitments.
  • May supervise/mentor Project Managers and Project Engineers and Staff Professionals.   Be available for offering guidance and direction on project management issues.
  • Works with Project Managers to ensure that client’ s goals are met. Leads team in understanding client needs and is focused on high-level team performance to ensure positive client relationships and on-going/future work.
  • Schedule internal/external personnel and equipment to complete the project, or oversee others performing scheduling. Provide work plan for staff performing the work, or review work plan prepared by others. Conduct kick-off meeting with appropriate staff, reviewing safety, scope and other applicable components of the project.
  • Track progress of project. May have other team members track sub-tasks or subcontractor/subconsultant activities. Communicate with resource managers if adjustments of staff or equipment are necessary.
  • Confirm that personnel working on the project have the appropriate level of experience or specialized knowledge.
  • Communicate with client regarding schedule, interim findings and milestone progress if appropriate.
  • Communicate scope changes with client and obtain approval. Pay close attention to out-of-scope work and schedule delays.
  • Review technical input from the project as it relates to the final deliverable to the client. Pay close attention to unexpected findings or changes to the project that would affect the client.
  • Communicate unexpected results or findings with the client.
  • Oversee invoice preparation, verify that they meet the client' s requirements. Track expended budget and compare it to the proposed budget for that stage of the project.
  • Track invoice payment and follow up with client if payments are not received at agreed upon schedule.
  • Meet with client at project milestone dates and at project completion. Ask for feedback regarding our performance. Continue to develop relationship by learning more about client' s needs.
  • Communicate, implement, follow and monitor all client safety requirements. Encourage reporting of near misses and conducting behavior based safety observations.
  • Oversee project closeout activities: file clean-up (digital and paper), BST closeout, subcontractor closeout and record drawings for projects.

Jordan majored in political science and minored in Spanish graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He decided to attend law school a year later and successfully graduated with a Juris Doctorate (JD) in 2015. Throughout law school he worked full time at a law firm and had 7 licenses to practice under a licensed attorney. Jordan handled criminal defense cases from which he negotiated deals, conducted legal research, and wrote many legal briefs, which were successfully argued in court.
