Project Managers are the team leaders and essential to the success of our projects. This position would include daily involvement in some of our largest scale or complex projects and would be trained in the company’ s Way to Manage system of managing scope, schedule, and budget. As a senior professional, this leadership role will closely follow our Seller-Doer model. It requires daily communication to our clients and candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Our transportation project managers also lead best when combined with past experience in transportation engineering design. This role would ideally leverage past experience in roadway design, traffic planning and engineering, bridge design, NEPA planning, and CEI to ensure success in both the pursuit and implementation of projects.
This position will become a key advisor in the firm' s strategic transportation planning process, helping to set strategic direction and evaluate key investments across the transportation market. As a Seller-Doer, this position will be approximately a split between business development, 40% and involvement with projects in roles such as Principal, Project Manager and Senior Engineer, 60%.
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate transportation engineering work.
Conceptualize the initial design approach for major phases of large roadway projects.
Develop and review transportation design plans.
Manage various aspects of roadway projects including geometric design, right-of-way plans, storm drainage design, utilities, signing and marking, and erosion control design.
Manage the preparation of engineering reports, plans and specifications for major projects. Design and produce engineering drawings based on calculations.
Conceive, plan and conduct research in complex problem areas.
Prepare and review preliminary and final plans and technical specifications, contract documents and estimates, and make recommendations for additions, deletions and substitutions when modifications are necessary.
Participate in contract bidding and administration if needed.
Supervise and observe the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, State and County officials and other outside agencies.
Supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.
Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants and firm staff.
Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project. Resolve a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry.
Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques. Knowledge and skill in MicroStation and CADD techniques and principles.
Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computers, calculators, and copiers.
Skill in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.
Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships. Ability to work independently on multiple tasks without immediate and constant supervision.
Bachelor' s/Master' s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited four year college or university.
Louisiana Professional Engineer, P.E. certification or ability to obtain is preferred.
Minimum 5 years transportation design experience.
LADOTD project experience is a preferred.
5+ years of relevant experience in Roadway Design and/or Plans Production.
Experience and knowledge of LADOTD File and Drawings formats a plus.
