6 months contract-to-hire position for a Network Architect  in Cincinnati, Ohio


Job Title: Network Architect · Job Description: To design and provide Tier 4 (engineering) support for CNF solutions to a BT managed large enterprise customer. · Produce high level design documentation, network diagrams and Bills of Materials · Oversee deployment of the designed solution including the resolution of any technical issues. · Produce technical documentation, work instructions, processes and training materials · Enforce quality by auditing the adherence to design implementation by field installers · Drive innovation within the defined service tower (cost management, technology evolution or revolution) · Support customer meetings and presentations as required.
 
Network Architect
Role Definition: Global WAN CNF Architect is responsible for new Carrier Neutral Facilities (CNF) architecture.  Create designs, configurations and templates used to implement the required solution.   
 
Key Purpose of the Roles:
•             To design and provide Tier 4 (engineering) support for CNF solutions to a BT managed large enterprise customer.
•             Produce high level design documentation, network diagrams and Bills of Materials
•             Oversee deployment of the designed solution including the resolution of any technical issues.
•             Produce technical documentation, work instructions, processes and training materials
•             Enforce quality by auditing the adherence to design implementation by field installers
•             Drive innovation within the defined service tower (cost management, technology evolution or  revolution)
•             Support customer meetings and presentations as required.
 
Principal Responsibilities:
•             Design and Implement solutions within the CNF.
•             Produce detailed “ Runbook” for the Operations team.
•             Oversee Deployment within the CNF
•             Deploy Complex solutions to the global CNF facilities.
•             Coordinate competing efforts and technologies within the CNF
•             To produce high-level designs, network diagrams (in Visio) and Bills of Materials fulfilling the customer’ s requirements within the agreed customer and BT network architecture and design guidelines
•             Oversee the deployment of the designed solution including the resolution of any issues with the solution and coordinate other BT teams and departments as required.
 
Resources for which post holder is likely to be accountable:
•             People:               Self – Network Delivery Engineer, Network Designer Level 2
•             Budget:               As specified for CNF Services in the design.  The individual will be responsible for ensuring the solution is delivered within budget.
 
Principal Working Relationships:         
Customers:        •             Account Global Engineering Team, Project Delivery Directors and Project Managers & End customer
 
Suppliers:
•             OEM network equipment companies, Telecom Providers
 
Person Specification:
Essential Skills & Experience (key competencies)
 
Specific Experience
•             Experience designing, implementing and/or optimizing enterprise Wide area networks
•             Cisco CCNP in Routing and Switching or demonstrable equivalent experience
•             Understanding of IP routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.
•             Familiarity of Cisco WAN switches and routers, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
•             Familiarity with Carrier NNI’ s
•             Expert in BGP routing
•             Experience with PE routing
 
Business and General Experience
•             Proven experience of working directly with customers
•             Ability to maintain accuracy & quality
•             Ability to prioritise and & apply time management principles
•             Experience in creating, influencing and supporting business cases
•             Successful in maintaining productive working relationships with other BT departments
•             Ability to identify opportunities for business growth and initiate and drive improvements
•             Ability to work with and integrate in a multi-vendor environment.

Education
•             Bachelor’ s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering (or similar field)
•             3+ years of experience in architecting, designing, implementing IT architectures and applications
•             Cisco certification – CCNP, CCIE, CENT, CWNA, CWNE, ACMA, ACMP or equivalent (recommended)
