Senior Surveyor

Description of the Position:
  • The senior surveyor is a leadership role within a team that provides overall technical expertise to the team 
  • Leads quality assurance/quality control for the team and acts as an advisor on complex projects
  • Directs and manages project staff on technical aspects of projects, including coordination with all disciplines involved
  • May provide additional project management when requested and mentors staff on the team

Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Provides a consultative resource to clients for problem resolution
  • Plans and oversees the quality review process of project deliverables 
  • Elevates the level of technical expertise within the team through technical design, mentoring, and training
  • Leads the effort for putting together technical resources for the team and its projects
  • Supervises/directs professionals and technical staff in the design approach to meet other project requirements
  • Reviews contracts with the support of the administration
  • Demonstrates competency to oversee all survey tasks
  • Promotes ef? ciencies in producing quality work and ensures the accuracy of surveys
  • Is involved in the selection and the performance management of staff
  • Understands, identi? es and avoids potential safety hazards for workers and the public in and around project sites
  • Traverses and works in all types of terrain, in all kinds of weather conditions, and on project sites in various stages of construction   in order to oversee staff

Education and Certi? cation Requirements:
  • Associate degree from a technical or four-year school is preferred, and a minimum of ten years of experience working with  a licensed surveyor
  • Must be registered as a land surveyor

Expectations:
  • Has the ability to teach and mentor subordinates in all aspects of survey
  • Has the ability to take linear and angular measurements and apply the principals of geometry and trigonometry to delineate the form, extent, and position
  • Has a proven track record in meeting and exceeding client expectations through excellent project management and staf? ng
  • Has an ability to attract, develop, and retain talented staff who deliver results
  • Has excellent client management, client service orientation, and writing and presentation skills
  • Has a willingness to work a? exible schedule and the ability to work long hours while maintaining concentration
  • Has a valid driver’ s license and a good driving history
